At 26, Suki Waterhouse wears many hats: model, designer, actor, musician (and, literally, her oft-photographed baker-boy topper). This month, the London It Girl and former Burberry model dons a new crown as the face of Salvatore Ferragamo’s latest fragrance, aptly dubbed Amo Ferragamo (1). “It reminds me of my week in Florence—and the naughtiness and cheekiness of the Italians,” Waterhouse says of the vanilla and rhubarb eau. Next up, she stars in the suburban thriller Assassination Nation, then joins James Franco’s postapocalyptic flick Future World.

What’s your greatest skill?

Emotional intelligence. It’s an excuse for not having any actual skills.

And shortcoming?

If I’m not super-engaged in what’s going on, I’ll do too many things. For example, I end up overflowing my bath a lot. I’ll turn it on and try to do other stuff. Then the neighbors get annoyed.

Which item in your purse tells the most about you?

Probably my camera—a little Leica Z2X (2). My favorite thing in the world is developing a couple of rolls of film. I’m quite sentimental in that way.

Do people borrow your clothes?

Of course—I’m always trying to get them worn. It makes me sad to think they’re not. I talk to them when I pack: “Who wants to come with me? Who needs to come with me?”

And do you collect anything?

Pieces of paper with diary excerpts. I have maybe 30 or 40 notepads filled with thoughts and lyrics.

Which piece in your wardrobe gets the most play?

This Gucci leather baker-boy hat that I’m absolutely mad for (see above), and a Ferragamo bag (3) that I’m using at the moment.

If you could be anywhere, where would you be?

Actually, I’m really happy just to be in London.

What was your first kiss like?

I was about 13, watching The Stepford Wives—a really weird movie for 13-year-olds to see. I fancied the boy’s friend a lot more than I fancied him.

When did you first wear perfume?

I was probably seven, running around the garden. [I got] a big jug of water and went around paring flowers, making a cauldron of perfume.

A garden child!

We had a family basil plant that I was obsessed with. I used to read and talk to it. I think I called it Prince Harry, actually.

Does your mom wear perfume?

Absolutely. She’s always been a Jo Malone wearer.

What song’s on repeat?

Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow.” It’s an anthem for everything.

What’s your most treasured accessory?

Can a guitar be an accessory? I have a really amazing Gibson with a leopard-print strap.

All-time favorite lyrics?

From “Fruits of My Labor,” by Lucinda Williams: “Baby, I remember all the things we did / When we slept together / In the blue behind your eyelids.”

Flats or heels?

I’m usually in flats. I’m obsessed with Balenciaga’s army boots. They’re the kind of thing Destiny’s Child wore in the “Survivor” video.

Any recent beauty discoveries?

I love [Davines] Minu hair serum (4). I have really crazy hair, tangly and hard to look after. This literally changed my life. I put it on when my hair’s wet, and it dries soft and smooth.

What’s on your winter wish list?

The Lighter thigh-high sock boots (5) by Vetements.

What’s your everyday uniform?

A gorgeous tan coat—it’s vintage Gaultier, which is really cool—a pair of Barneys’ slightly wedge-heeled boots, Jesse Kamm jeans, and Oliver Peoples sunglasses.

Who’s your style inspiration?

Elle Fanning does an incredible job—and [model] Slick Woods (7)! I’m just obsessed.

And watching?

[Amazon’s] I Love Dick. Kathryn Hahn’s unbelievable. I’m really enjoying it, but I would rather have Griffin Dunne be Dick than [Kevin Bacon]—just throwing that out there.

What’s on your 2018 bucket list?

I’m desperate to go to Japan. I’ve never been there—which is weird, seeing as I have a Japanese name. So I need to get there as soon as possible.

Can you pinpoint when you were the happiest?

No, because I’m always getting happier. It’s possible to be really sad and happy at the same time, which I think I exist in quite a lot.
